Xavier Bresnu

Country Director Tunisia, IECD

An expert in international cooperation and youth employability, Xavier Bresnu has over 11 years of experience managing development projects across North Africa. Currently Country Director of IECD in Tunisia, he leads a 35-member team and oversees large-scale programmes (up to €4M) dedicated to economic inclusion and sustainable job creation, in close partnership with national institutions and international organisations (Ministries, EU, UNICEF, UNDP).

As a committed social entrepreneur, he founded and developed Ftartchi, an innovative initiative promoting the economic inclusion of young people and women through training and entrepreneurship in the culinary and pastry sectors. His career has also included roles at the French Embassies in Tunisia and Morocco, where he supported local NGOs, designed civil society support mechanisms, and coordinated youth initiatives at the Maghreb level.

A graduate of Sciences Po Bordeaux, France (Master’s in International Cooperation and Development), Xavier is fluent in English, speaks Tunisian Arabic, and has an advanced level in Classical Arabic. Passionate about writing and poetry, he combines managerial and analytical expertise with a profoundly human approach to development, focused on youth, inclusion, and sustainability.
