
Roshni Sumitra
Roshni Sumitra currently works as the Humanitarian and Climate Programmes Officer at World Jewish Relief, where her role is focussed on the humanitarian and disaster response initiatives across the Global South. Her recent work spans emergency responses to the Myanmar earthquake, Kenya floods (via the Start Network), the Kala Azar outbreak in Kenya, food insecurity in Ethiopian IDP camps, early warning systems in the Philippines, and climate-resilient WASH programming in Bangladesh.
With over seven years of experience in the development and humanitarian sectors, Roshni previously worked as a Research Officer at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, focusing on climate resilience and WASH research across urban and peri-urban sites in Africa and Asia. She also brings policy expertise from her time as a Legislative Research Fellow in India and as a consultant with Swaniti Global, where she supported state governments in the country, including Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh on improving last-mile delivery of public services, particularly around livelihoods and nature-based solutions. Roshni has moderated panel discussions on WASH and Climate Justice in South Asia as a part of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development’s (ICCCAD) ‘South Asia Regional Hub’ pre Cop 28 conference as well as on green livelihoods for the Women Economic Forum.
