Maria Palacios Valdecantos
Maria Palacios is Head of Sector at the Emergency Response Coordination Centre within the Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) in the European Commission. With close to 20 years’ experience in humanitarian aid, she has worked in some of the most pressing crises of the last years, including the Syria war, the refugee crisis in Greece, or the response to the COVID-19 pandemic where she coordinated the work developed under the Emergency Support Instrument in DG ECHO. She has participated in the creation and launching of innovative projects throughout her career , i.e., upscale of large cash programs, creation of ReliefEU, or the Humanitarian Leadership Group on Supply Chain. She holds a degree in Law and various MS, including in e-business administration and legal practice.
