The Department of humanitarian assistance and comprehensive response is a new department in Norad, established in August 2024 following a major aid reform in Norway, where Norad will take over the management of humanitarian assistance for the first time. The department consist of two teams: Humanitarian response and Prevention & stabilization.
Abild has a background from leadership positions in the Red Cross, the Norwegian Refugee Council as well as being the Norwegian Aid Committee’s representative in Gaza for two years. He has also worked as the private secretary for H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. He holds a Master’s Degree in Forced Migration from the University of Oxford and has published on topics of humanitarian access, innovation and the politics of aid.
