Karen Bernstein is the Director of Global Partnerships at SurgiBox, bringing two decades of experience living and working for nonprofits and the United Nations in conflict zones. Witnessing firsthand the reality of people living in conflict without access to critical medical services such as safe surgery inspired her to join SurgiBox and help bridge this urgent gap. Today, she leads the strategy and implementation of HGC-related operations in conflict-affected settings, drives the organization’s grant writing and donor reporting, and ensures compliance with gender, human rights, and sustainability standards. She also shapes SurgiBox’s strategic communications and works to forge new partnerships and sales channels to bring access to safe surgery to the world’s most challenging environments.
