Joyce Julian Acoko

Executive Director, NUWOSO
Ms. Joyce Julian Acoko is a seasoned humanitarian and development professional with over a decade of experience in Northern Uganda. Currently serving as the Chairperson of the Charter for Change (C4C) Working Group Uganda, she has been a key advocate for the localization agenda, particularly in the Acholi Sub-region. As the Executive Director of the Northern Uganda Widows and Orphans Support Organization (NUWOSO), Joyce leads efforts to address the challenges faced by women and children, providing strategic direction to the organization. She is also spearheading the Action for Change movement in Acholi, working to eliminate sexual and gender-based violence with support from UN Women. Joyce is the founder of the MegoMakwiny Restorative Community Group, a women-led initiative dedicated to empowering marginalized families. Her experience includes consulting for various local and international organizations, and she is committed to engaging communities in creating lasting social change. Joyce holds a degree in Information Technology and is currently pursuing studies in Strategic Management and Leadership at the University of Sacred Heart in Uganda. She is married and a mother of three.
