Bukola Onyishi
Bukola Onyishi, “Buki” is the Country Director of Women for Women International in Nigeria. With over two decades at the organization, she pioneered the business skills training for program participants in Nigeria, laying the groundwork for a core component of the organization’s approach to women’s economic empowerment.
Under Buki’s leadership, the organization has expanded its presence to four of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, reaching over 100 communities. She leads a dynamic and committed team in a conflict-affected setting, championing resilience, equity, and women’s empowerment across all areas of the program.
Passionate about supporting women survivors of war and conflict, Buki strongly believes in the power of local solutions to rebuild communities. She also understands the importance of engaging men as allies. WfWI Nigeria was the first country office to start the Men’s Engagement Program (MEP), educating men in the communities on issues of gender equality and violence against women.
