Benjamin Safari
Benjamin Safari is a native of Rwanda, where, as a young man, he experienced firsthand the devastating impacts of war, genocide and displacement. This experience profoundly shaped his life, instilling in him a lifelong commitment to humanitarian work and caring for displaced populations.
With a Master’s Degree in Economics from Adelaide University, academic and policy research experience, and a diverse international humanitarian and development assistance leadership career spanning 20 years, Ben joined UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, as Head of Supply Management Service on 1 March 2021.
Ben brings strong credentials and proven experience to the post, having designed and led SCM operations for complex international humanitarian relief and development projects funded by donors such as the US Government and the Global Fund at all levels, as well as cash/markets-based assistance.
Since joining UNHCR, Ben has led the transformation of UNHCR’s supply chain, starting with a new strategy that focuses on making it simple, swift, and sustainable.
