Anne Reitsema
Anne Reitsema became Medair’s Chief Executive Officer in 2023. Since joining Medair in 2004, she has led programmes in Zimbabwe, Angola, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, and overseen operations in the Horn of Africa. In 2019, Anne became International Programmes Director, where she oversaw all of Medair's Country Programmes.
Anne has over 8 years of experience in humanitarian coordination in Sudan and South Sudan, serving on various committees and presenting to high-level stakeholders, including the UN Security Council. She represented Medair at the World Humanitarian Summit, served in the United Nations Global Emergency Directors Group, and was nominated to the ICVA board in 2024. Currently, she is a principal in the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC).
Before Medair, Anne worked as a social worker and counselor. She holds degrees in Social Work and Counselling. Born and raised in South Africa, Anne now lives in Switzerland.
