Ahmed Ibrahim Abdi
Ahmed Ibrahim Abdi is the CEO and Convenor of the ASAL Humanitarian Network (AHN), a network of around 30 local and national NGOs rooted in Kenya's Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. He brings a community-anchored perspective on locally led development: under his leadership, AHN operates a Survivor and Community-Led Response (SCLR) pooled fund that has resourced 151 community-led projects across 14 sectors, treating communities not as recipients of aid but as decision-makers, innovators and co-designers. As the NEAR Network's Grand Bargain Sherpa, he advocates for global reforms on financing, risk-sharing and the transfer of power to frontline actors. His work bridges community authority, evidence-based programming, natural resourse governance and the climate–development nexus across Kenya's drylands.
