The name “Bate Papo” can be translated as conversation, dialogue or an informal exchange of ideas. More than an event title, it represents the initiative’s methodology: creating welcoming and accessible spaces where technical knowledge is shared through real conversations, practical experiences and direct interaction with people working in communities.
Rather than offering highly theoretical or bureaucratic content, Bate Papo 3º Setor translates complex topics into clear, applicable guidance. Through workshops, lectures, discussion circles and networking activities, participants learn about project development, fundraising, public funding opportunities, parliamentary grants, organizational management, work plans, accountability, incentive laws and social entrepreneurship.
Its main purpose is to help NGOs become better prepared, more sustainable and more capable of transforming ideas into well-structured social projects. The initiative also encourages collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of strategic partnerships between organizations, community leaders, public institutions and other social impact stakeholders.
Founded by public entrepreneur Tito Santana, Bate Papo 3º Setor has developed a growing national presence. According to the presentation, the initiative has held more than 50 events across six Brazilian states, reached over 5,500 social organizations, generated three million content views on youtube and answered approximately 20,000 questions through in-person events, digital activities and its community.
