As humanitarian needs continue to grow while public funding comes under increasing pressure, neither the humanitarian sector nor the private sector can solve today's challenges alone. Yet too often, relationships remain transactional - humanitarian organisations engage businesses primarily as suppliers or funders, while companies approach the sector through procurement opportunities or philanthropy. The challenge is no longer attracting more private sector engagement, but moving beyond transactions towards partnerships that combine complementary capabilities, align incentives and create long-term value.

This session explores how humanitarian organisations and businesses can move beyond traditional partnership models towards strategic, long-term collaboration built on shared objectives, complementary capabilities and mutual value. Rather than asking what the private sector can contribute, the discussion will examine how both sectors can better align expertise, innovation, investment, technology and market access to strengthen humanitarian outcomes. At a time when the sector must move beyond simply delivering "more with less", what does a truly strategic private sector partnership actually look like?
