From climate risk to health resilience - Evidence, innovation and action for children and communities
Climate change is not only an environmental challenge. It is a public health crisis with profound implications for children, women, and vulnerable populations living in fragile and humanitarian settings. From extreme heat, floods and droughts to displacement and food insecurity, climate-related shocks are making headlines around the world and placing growing pressure on health systems, threatening both physical and mental wellbeing.
This session, co-hosted by Terre des hommes and Elrha, will bring together humanitarian practitioners, researchers, donors and innovators to explore how climate change is reshaping health outcomes and what can be done to strengthen resilience. Drawing on evidence and operational experiences from different climate-vulnerable contexts, speakers will share lessons learned, innovative approaches and community-led solutions that help anticipate climate-related risks, strengthen health system resilience, and reduce adverse health outcomes before, during and after climate shocks.
Participants will discuss how research, climate and health intelligence, local knowledge and humanitarian innovation can be better integrated into practical and scalable responses. The session will also examine investment priorities and partnerships needed to build climate-resilient health systems that protect the health, wellbeing and future of children, families and communities most at risk.
