From relief to resilience - Leveraging water and climate science to improve aid effectiveness

23 Oct 2025
Workshop Room 1
In emergency and conflict-affected settings, humanitarian actors are often required to make critical decisions without access to the operational data, tools, and scientific insights needed to anticipate, adapt to, and respond effectively to challenges related to climate shocks and water security. Building on applied and operational research from field locations including Ethiopia, Nigeria, Palestine, and Sudan, this session spotlights investment-ready models and data-driven tools that the scientific community can offer to humanitarian and donor partners to support immediate needs in the field. It highlights how practical, locally grounded solutions – such as digital twins, anticipatory action systems, and community-informed analytics – can make humanitarian response more timely, impactful, and fit for purpose. The discussion will focus on how evidence and analytical tools can inform and strengthen humanitarian operations, linking water and climate intelligence to resilience and recovery.
