Revolutionising prosthetic fitting for humanitarian aid
Amparo’s presentation explores the urgent need for innovative prosthetic care in humanitarian crises, particularly in conflict zones like Gaza where access to medical services is extremely limited. Traditional prosthetic fitting methods are time-consuming, require specialized clinics, and depend on stable infrastructure-barriers that are impossible to overcome in many active conflict areas.
To highlight this reality, Amparo will be joined by representatives from the Restoring Hope initiative, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. Together, we will discuss the real-world challenges of delivering medical aid into Gaza-including border restrictions, destroyed healthcare infrastructure, and the critical need for scalable, rapid-response solutions.
Amparo's direct-fitting socket system addresses these challenges by enabling mobile prosthetic care that can be delivered directly in the field. This system allows clinicians to perform same-session fittings without access to traditional facilities or prolonged follow-up, making it ideal for emergency response and post-conflict recovery efforts.
The presentation will include a demonstration of the Amparo fitting method and introduce the Pediatric Socket, designed for children affected by conflict.
