Returnees to Syria — The Challenges and Opportunities

22 Oct 2025
China Networking Area

This session explores the complex realities surrounding the return of displaced Syrians, focusing on both the immediate humanitarian needs and the long-term reintegration challenges they face. The discussion will bring together policymakers, humanitarian actors, and development partners to assess current conditions in areas of return, including access to basic services, housing, livelihoods, and social cohesion.

Panelists will also highlight the opportunities that sustainable and well-coordinated return processes can bring—such as community revitalization, workforce recovery, and strengthened local governance. Emphasis will be placed on ensuring that returns are safe, voluntary, dignified, and aligned with international protection standards
