The Waste Management in humanitarian Operations: Reduction and minimisation (https://wormproject.eu/) session focuses on waste management processes, and the opportunities in bio-based materials in products used in field hospitals. Specific discussion will centre on standard operating procedures of waste management in humanitarian contexts, as well as the potential role of bio-based materials in making humanitarian medical supply chains more environmentally sustainable. The session will also present a perspective on sustainable livelihoods, focusing on waste-pickers as an important factor in the waste management process, and thereby the humanitarian supply chain. The session will be conducted in an interactive manner with the audience and speakers.
