Humanitarian response and economic development in Ukraine - How to capitalise on the opportunity for win-win outcomes and avoid unintended consequences

23 Oct 2024
Workshop Room 4
This panel discussion will focus on the unprecedented international support to Ukraine, focusing on humanitarian needs and economic development. It will address the diverging objectives between humanitarian and economic development efforts, often resulting in competition rather than collaboration. The discussion aims to identify overlapping sectors, coordination methods, and governance mechanisms to mitigate conflicting priorities. Additionally, it will examine the unintended consequences of aid dependency and labour market disruption. The panel will bring together donors, government officials, and implementers to strategize on maximising benefits for Ukraine and encouraging stakeholder collaboration.
