Community empowerment in crisis zones: Transformative strategies for GBV prevention and SRHR resilience among displaced populations
Ghana has maintained its reputation as a peaceful country. However, current trends have shown
periodic violence stemming from ethnic, religious, economic, and political conflicts. Recently,
small-to-medium-sized disasters have hindered efforts to create a sustainable and safe society.
This case study examines the innovative and inclusive strategies employed by the Orange
Support Center. The center utilizes technology through an app, a toll-free call center, and a
volunteer platform, engaging certified professionals to offer comprehensive support to
individuals living with disabilities and to victims and survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).
This support encompasses psychosocial, legal, medical, and physical assistance, while also
promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
This case study will also discuss innovative financing approaches to sustain humanitarian
projects and presents digital solutions for improving crisis response and resource allocation.
Recommended strategies include creating safe spaces, providing psychosocial support,
ensuring healthcare access, and engaging men and boys in prevention efforts.
