Adapting NGO coordination in complex and estranged settings
This session will explore opportunities and challenges facing NGOs and their partners in contemporary humanitarian coordination. As the impacts of conflict increasingly challenge the humanitarian system, NGO actors at local, national, regional and global levels are trying to adapt to working in complex and often restrictive settings. This dynamic context calls for a critical examination of existing assumptions and the identification of actionable areas to enhance coordination, ultimately strengthening principled and effective humanitarian action. ICVA has recently completed in-depth research into some NGO-led initiatives examining how NGOs are adapting and their approaches to coordination. This session will bring together researchers, along with representatives of NGOs and their partners, to delve into the findings and discuss the future implications of this work particularly in complex and conflict settings. The discussion will focus on how these insights can drive positive change in the humanitarian system.
